FreeRice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com.

FreeRice has two goals:

Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.
Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.

Whether you are CEO of a large corporation or a street child in a poor country, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.

Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide. Thank you

For those of you who are not aware of it, there is a genocide occuring in the DArfur region of Sudan in Northern Africa. Over the last couple of years, nearly half a million people have been murdered and many more have been displaced. I think we should consider doing a project as a class to raise awareness and possibly supply aid to the people suffering from this tragedy. For far too long, we've stood idly by. It is now the time to rise up and act on our moral standards. It is our responsiblity as the more fortunate citizens of the world to defend the defenseless and to care for te less fortunate!

My sister's 4-H group is going to be volunteering for the humane society soon, I think that we as a class should go and volunteer sometimes.

OMG..I donated 200 grains of rice by increasing my vocab! Which is everything I need! This is absolutely amazing, and so, so, so easy! I definitely think we should make this a weekly assignment. If every kid in our class gets 10-20 words right, imagine how many people we'd be feeding! Rice swells, people! =]
